"I rushed my first semester at UGA. I walking through the hallway of a frat house with my friends who were brothers in that frat, and they were ahead of me. Then as they turned the corner, they saw a fellow brother who had not seen me yet, and he said, “what’s up n*gger”. When he saw me, he had a weird look on his face, didn’t say anything else, and walked away. Later that night, I was on the back porch, surrounded by white kids, and my race got brought up. I told them that I was 1/4 black and 3/4 white. One of the brothers responded, “You’re only 1/4 black? Wow all that black really soaked into your skin. You’re as black as this cigar”. That night was my first time in a frat house."
