"When I was going through recruitment, I was told not to wear my Jewish jewelry or to indicate on my forms that I was Jewish. I was told this would limit the number of sororities I would be in. I was heavily involved in BBYO, so it was a huge part of my resume in high school. I also love wearing my hamsa necklace, and was sad I was not able to wear it during recruitment as I did not want to get cut from every sorority. Sadly, the person who told me not to include my Jewish experiences on my resume was correct, as after 1 day I was cut from all sororities except 6. I was even cut from the house I was a legacy at (ZTA) after round 2. I had great conversations there and am still convinced the only reason I was cut is because I was Jewish. While I know they do take Jews now, I rushed before this was more normalized."
